UPDATE: All caps are currently SOLD OUT.
Since there are absolutely no news to speak of in the world of cycling today (although this certainly gains greater meaning everyday), let me tell you about the newest line of Cycling Inquisition caps. But first, as with almost every post on this blog, I must first include a brief geography lesson. Here it goes:
"Pisos termicos" is one of those wonderfully descriptive terms that is commonly used in Colombian Spanish, but sadly does not exist in English. In short, the term refers to the fact that in Colombia, elevation regulates temperature, and everything that comes with it. From plant life, to animal species, weather and everything in between. A literal translation of the term would be: thermal stories, or thermal floors, since the divisions between each micro-climate are horizontal, and stacked one on top of each other.
Why bring this up? Because in Colombia, you can start a long ride in the warm and humid lowlands (in tierra caliente, which literally means "hot land"), but easily peak out in cold temperatures that many don't associate with a country that is so close to the equator (tierra fria, "cold land"). With this in mind, as well as the fact that most readers of this blog live in places with decidedly cold winters, I decided to get another run of cycling caps made. This time around, however, the caps are available in both summer and winter trim.
Summer cap (tierra caliente):
Made of a pre-washed poly/cotton blend that has a tiny bit of stretch to it.

Winter cap (tierra fria):
Pre-washed, warm wool blend, ear flap made of soft cotton-spandex with comfortable stretch. Still fits comfortably under your helmet.
Details:
These caps are custom made for Cycling Inquisition in Canada by Red Dots Cycling. The Colombian flag ribbon is made in Colombia, and sourced in Bogota exclusively by my dear mother, as well as my equally kind and patient godmother. Unlike other cycling caps that are made by hand in small runs, the fit and finish in these are impeccable.
All caps will come with a 1" pin commemorating one of Colombia's great riders, and coffee-flavored hard candy made by Colombia's oldest candy manufacturer.
Sizing:
Small/Medium
21"-22.5" (53.34cm - 57.15cm)
Medium/Large (only size)
22 1/2" - 24" (57 cm to 60.5 cm)
If you're unsure as to what size to buy, simply measure the circumference of your head like this lady, to ensure you get the right one. Measure where the bottom of the cap will be worn.
Pricing:
$30 for summer, $50 for winter
(NOTE: Only large summer and winter caps are still available.)
$3.00 shipping to the US, $10 internationally. All orders ship via USPS.
Payment:
Must be sent via PayPal this email address. If you don't have a Paypal account, email me and I'll send you a Paypal invoice, which you can pay with a credit card.
Other goods:
Caps aside, I wanted to mention that I have just a couple of copies of Matt Rendell's Kings Of The Mountains left (UPDATE: Books are now sold out). The prints of Colombian climbs are also running low.
